The Boy's Lego party

The Big Boy has been mad about Lego since he received some as a gift a year ago. He plays with it pretty much from the minute he wakes up until bedtime. He even has some that used to be my husband's when he was little, and his stash keeps on growing! Needless to say he wanted a Lego party this year and (thank you Pinterest) it was such a fun (and stress-free) theme!

The cake was super easy - 2 layered squares topped with 4 cupcakes for a 4th birthday :-) It looks a bit rough but I am so scared of fondant icing so I just stick to the normal stuff.

These sandwiches were another great Pinterest find. I used a small cookie cutter to make the circles and 'glued' them on with jam for the jam sandwiches and mayo for the egg mayo ones.

The kids played 'pin the hat on the Lego head' (The Boy is peeking in this pic!) and got to pick a prize afterwards. Nothing fancy - just sweets and Lego blocks.

I had lots of other grand ideas (like making these Lego head party packs) but with Baby O about we had to keep everything simple. We used a simple box with four circles drawn on it for the party packs and instead of giving away lots of sugary treats we bought a box of Lego bricks and split it between the packs.

This was by far the most stress-free party I've organised for The Boy so far and we all had a great time!

(And if you're wondering where I got all my inspiration from then have a look at my Pinterest board here.)

    1. Did they get lots of Lego as gifts ;-) I think that secretly my husband is thrilled about the Boy's Lego love because he gets to play with it too :-)

  3. Absolutely brilliant, all of it! I love the cake (I don't like fondant icing much so use buttercream on everything) and the idea of putting lego in the party bags instead of sweets is such a good one. But most importantly, it looks like the birthday boy had a blast, which is all that counts. xx

    1. I must agree about fondant - tricky to work with and not nearly as tasty as buttercream! Yup, the birthday boy had such a good time he asked for another birthday :-D x

    1. Thanks! Lego has really taken over our lives. He is going to be sad when his baby brother starts crawling and we have to confine the Lego building to one spot. x
